Earlier this week, Lieutenant General Sergey Rudskoy, chief of the main operations department of the Russian General Staff, updated the media on Russia’s attempts to knock out ISIS’s illegal oil trade through massive airstrikes.
He said Russian airstrikes have destroyed 6 ISIS-controlled oil production facilities and 7 truck convoys in the last few days. “The intensity of air strikes at Islamic State and other terrorist targets has been increased,” Rudskoy said.
And TASS reported, citing the defense ministry, that “Russian air strikes have helped to halve the Islamic State’s proceeds from illegal oil trade from $3 million to $1.5 million.”
