National Oilwell Varco plans to cut back its Norwegian workforce by an additional 900 people as the Norway market slows amid low oil price, the company said Monday.
In June, NOV said that 1,500 workers in Norway would be cut, comprised of 900 permanent jobs and 600 contractors. Today’s cuts are on top of this. After this latest round of cuts, NOV will have laid off about half its Norwegian staff.
Commensurate with the lay-offs, NOV’s production operations at Hjelset and in Søgne will be shut down.
